Gone fishing
There have been shoals of fish forced so deep into the bay by seals, birds and other fish that they are actually being washed up onto the beach. Guls are just picking them out of the water. The spectacle has been going on for a week now. This happened in a dream I had about a month ago which is rather odd.

Snowfall
I know this is a little late, but I have been busy. I promise I'll make up for it.
These were taken up near the steeple on the worst day of the snowfall. It was just a complete white-out up there and the snow was flying around so fast, I could barely open my eyes. Usually you can see for miles and miles but the snowfall was so thick that you could see about 100 yards. It was quite something.

Judging books by covers
I have returned from another trip to Bristol. A week long, this one was. I probably spent far too much time and money in various coffee shops as per usual. But hey, maybe I'm just addicted. I've also spent a lot of time in bookshops and once again I was reminded that Penguin books have the very best covers.

Felt-tip Mountains
Something I did in the small hours a few days ago. I want to climb a mountain right now. But I'm in Cornwall. Thus no mountains.

Man with a Blue Scarf
Today I have been reading Man with a Blue Scarf. It's by Martin Gayford and it's about the time he spent sitting for Lucian Freud. Without sounding too much like a wannabe literature critic (something I am most definitely not) it's an interesting insight into a notoriously private man. What is it with our fascination with things forbidden and unknown? Maybe it's just me.
Most of today was spent in the garden. I climbed onto the roof (not as impressive as it sounds) to take some photographs of the bay because the october air was so clear you could see all the way to Trevose Head (30 miles away). That's quite a rare thing.

Return from Bristol
I spent the last weekend with my cousin in Bristol. It was a splendid weekend. I'm missing the fine architecture and the exquisite sand colour of the buildings around the Clifton area. However I am travelling up to London this weekend, where I can at least get my fix of Neo-Classical architecture.
In the meantime, I went and got some photographs developed.

Autumnal Storms
One of the things I adore most about Cornwall this time of year are the storms. After work today I ate fish and chips on the harbour wall and watched the spray throw itself up over the wall and onto the stone and the occasional tourist. It often carried seaweed up and over the wall. The boats in the harbour were sloshing around. It reminded me of the Mousehole Cat. I love that story.
On another note; I'm getting excited for tomorrow morning. My Lucian Freud books are coming in the post.

L'Illusionniste
Tonight I went and saw L'Illusionniste in Penzance. It was a beautiful piece of animation, every frame was stunningly illustrated. See for yourself:
I love the cinema. Everything about it. What I like about the cinemas in St Ives and Penzance is that they are rather old. I prefer them to modern, recently built cinemas. I like it when there aren't many people watching the film. I especially like it when you're the only person watching the film. It feels... more cinematic.
